First Person Present Tense Story Telling

28th February 2017

the Green Man in Thin Time, a Halloween story

My children’s books are written in first person present tense.

for example: I looked for Sam but I couldn’t find him.

I find this way of writing easier that writing in the third person way of talking.

for example: He looked for Sam and he couldn’t find him.

Many children say that they like the first person way of writing and that is seems the person in the story is speaking directly to them!

I wonder what you prefer? Would love to know.  Have a look at one of my books told as if the character is speaking. In Thin Time it is Alice.
